About us
Celandine Seed Collective has been formed for ecological restoration and preservation projects to take place alongside and by means of supporting, connecting, and showcasing local creatives and their work.
Ecological projects will emphasize cultivation of native plants in their respective biomes and habitats, as well as the cultivation of the biomes and habitats themselves in order for them to support healthy, diverse populations of organisms in a stable ecosystem. While these projects are dealing primarily with other lifeforms, they are created out of human interest. They are primarily for the goal of creating a healthier, more vibrant environment for the human population as a whole. We will collaborate with environmental scientists, larger research and conservation organizations, government officials and Indigenous Peoples to create the soundest possible framework for carrying out these projects. Other projects that will take place will be directed towards food, sustainability, and community. These will aim to provide resources and information for the development of self-sustainability on both an individual and community level. This may include, but is not limited to community gardens, gardening and foraging workshops, clean water initiatives, fresh food banks, and volunteer opportunities for those interested in conservation work. We will collaborate with environmental and food scientists, local farms, agricultural experts, government officials, larger organizations, Indigenous Peoples, and volunteers in order to do this work safely and effectively on the largest scale possible.
Our sustainability projects will be largely supported by efforts to create space for local creatives to share, showcase, promote, and improve their work. The term “creatives” refers to anyone who wants to participate in creative activities, and does not necessarily mean those who are already established in a medium or have a following. Besides supporting ecological efforts, these showcases will be primarily held to bring together people of the community in a welcoming space, open up accessible creative outlets, and to put more art and music into the world for the people to enjoy. A single event may be able to host many different types of creatives, depending on the space. We will encourage diversity of styles and artforms, and aim to give a platform to as many people as possible. Besides showcasing events, there will also be “workshop” events, where people experienced in a certain craft/artform will teach people who have never done it before, or want to improve their skills.
